Keepers

During the past many years, Vintage items have become sought after, and no longer need an individual be a collector of things which lived in our historical pasts, but now more than ever before these wondrous things have been dusted off and made visible and become very accessible in a broad genre of categories, thanks to on line shop owners.
As one of Etsy's shop owners of Vintage Estate pieces, I want to share some of my finds with you.   All that is required to find anything your interested in is the Etsy Search Engine.....it will lead you to whatever it is your searching for.

One sought after category is the delicate porcelain china or glass items used to adorn a boudoir dresser or side table even a room as a colour accent to enhance a specific décor, or for that unique gift you might wish to give that special someone in your life.

This Antique Bisque trinket dish is wonderfully unique and different!  Look, a young couple in love each clad in traditional colours depicting gender sitting atop of a brown coloured vessel (dish) depicting which I take to be a log!  This is just so sweet and would make the loveliest of gifts to give any woman for her dressing table.
I discovered it for sale at HunkoFunko.

Red is Vibrant and striking, conjuring up visions of those ladies in red evening attire *such as in Gone With The Wind* or the more modern film *Pretty Woman*! This beautifully crafted Limoges Covered Trinket Dish is just the piece I would think women everywhere would adore!  It is dressed in the finest of red with gold trim and features on its delicate lid a transfer printed Fragonard scene made popular in the 17th and 18th centuries "the every present "Courting Couple" once again clad in the gender specific colours of Pink for her and Blue for himself.

I discovered this at Taingtiques and this shop has the most exquisite ring keeper which caught my breath actually created and made in the 1980's by Royal Stratford. If I actually had a dressing table I would snap this delicate beauty up in a heartbeat!

These delicate exquisite pieces were made for women whose jewellery when not worn would be placed inside a beautiful vessel, even when not worn their precious keepsakes would be safely guarded against misplacement or damage.

Like this set from Noritake during the Art Deco period of porcelain which I found at TeaJay.  It is actually a set of three pieces, featuring two Trinket Pots with lids and a Ring tray.  Each piece lavishly hand painted and dominated with lavender coloured flowers and trimmed in gold!   Absolutely stunning pieces.

When redoing a bedroom or boudoir, one cannot go wrong hunting for décor accessories at any one of the thousands of Etsy shops!  Vendors take great pride in what they themselves collect and offer up to the public for sale.

Because I ended up with an Estate to liquidate I too have several delicates for sale, one piece I simply love is this Depression era Elegant Frosted Pink Glass Shell Shaped dish set into a gold coloured metal holder.  It looks delicately fragile, but it is strong and sturdy and would look beautiful in any room.

This can be found at Bygonera.

Wishing you a wonderful day free from crisis and worries and as I am want to remember, Faith in our Creator is simple, without Him, we wouldn't exist!

VINTAGE HISTORY

20 days left until the Excitement erupts with cries of glee from little voices all over the world!  SANTA has come and left gaily wrapped gifts underneath their trees!!!!

This being one of the busiest months for Santa, it seems only fair to give him a helping hand!  To this end I have been busy finding AWESOME Etsy vintage shops for those who appreciate wonderful things from our past.

THERE IS A SHOP I found with some of the most interesting Vintage items in it I have seen in a very long time!  This very special item!  A 1920's Charles Dickens Christmas Book which was illustrated by the famous illustrator A.A. Dixon!  Who wouldn't be ecstatic unwrapping this beautiful Dickens book?

Not many of Dickens Christmas Books on the market and in such terrific condition, making this copy truly a highly prized gem to add to someone's  growing Classic Literature collection!  This comes to you from a beautiful vintage shop called BiminiCricket!

Following on the "Dickens" thread over at GrannasCupboard shop you will be delighted to find a veritable collection of Vintage Dickens inspired ornamental pieces as well as this version of Betsy Trotwood's Cottage!  For those who are collectors of all things Dickens and Dickens inspired, these pieces are truly amazing. Imagine your Christmas decor with some of these wonderful and collectible pieces!  For that special collector who may be on your list as one who would appreciate such a gift, this would be a feather in your cap!

At the Bazl shop I found more collectible decor ornamental pieces, this one especially charming and highly collectible is this Colonial Williamsburg Courthouse Miniature.  Isn't it grand?  Who as a collector wouldn't want to own this for their very own?
From TheSecretGardenEtsy comes this absolutely delightful and highly collectible Antique German Bisque Doll with bath accessories!  Adorable for that special someone on your list who would delight in its ownership!

And in keeping with wonderful Americana miniatures, look what I found at the OldWorldCountry shop, this fantastic miniature of  an Amish Quilt Shop for your Quilting friend who would simply be thrilled to bits with this as a gift from you!
If you or someone you know collects all things Amish, it is at the Old World Country shop you'll find more Amish miniatures!

As you can readily see, I was in a collection mood when browsing and any of these wonderful pieces would make precious gifts to receive..

Etsy has hundreds and hundreds of Vintage shops for your browsing and buying passions....why not think Vintage this Christmas for those above the age of 15, possibly such a gift might begin someone on the Collector's journey or even the appreciation for all things from our past, like "Dickens" of course or historical significance such as Colonial Williamsburg?

ECLECTIC TABLE SETTINGS

The mornings are changing, a certain scent is in the air, it is becoming cooler and geese can be heard making their way southward for their winter migration to warmer climates...which means that the harvests will be in, canning and preserving are in full swing and children will be returning back to the classrooms and the trees are beginning to show their new colors of golds, rusts, brilliant apple greens and sparkling golds before losing their magnificance and turning a dull shade of gray or brown!
This has got to be the advent of Fall, Thanksgiving is just around the corner, the day when the table is laden not only with the feasts of the summer harvest, but surrounded with family and friends, football and lively conversations.
Mixing it up this year might fun! Imagine dressing the table with mismatched table settings, Pfaltzgraff here, amber glasses, etc. what fun!  No stress table setting and the possibility of evoking fond memories of Thanksgivings' past!

Wouldn't it be fun to set the table with some real Vintage this Thanksgiving?
For instance, what of these Pfaltzgraff  salad plates in blue and from TsEclecticCorner

Classic country, vintage lending a flair of the late 1950's early to mid 1960's with these Amber glasses from Jeniyesterday!

Of course, the entree being the center of attention is the star attraction of the day!  Plates are to be laden with all that scrumptious food you've been preparing and a large dinner plate is what is needed to hold all that great food. Why not place this bright and cheerful set from VictorianRehabDesign with its golden yellow on white design ten (10") inch dinner plates in front of everyone?

Makes for an exciting followup, a variety of color accompanying a variety of delicious foods, to fill all those hungry tummies just waiting for turkey and the trimmings and can't wait to begin eating?

Laughter and chatter during each course and each with a different color, shape or design.  Changing up the table ware from years long ago might evoke some interesting questions and conversations about the "olden" days!  Possibly your mother had such a set but not enough pieces anymore to use at the dining table, but what fun if you mixed it up, or used  old fashioned glasses to hold the favored libation, coupled with interesting flatware like this set from Daisyrootsfrance !

Setting a miss matched table with all sorts of table ware from years past seems like a fun and different way to entertain the guests at your table on Thanksgiving Day, or, any event where your serving multiple courses of fantastic food.

More and more people are turning to the preparation and eating of good foods, getting together to share in the culinary exploits with the tableware setting the tempo and inviting lively conversations of "do you remember" all good entertaining conversations while enjoying the feast of the season!
